Hi! My name is Justin and I am the creator of IDHunter.com. I do not work in a profession normally associated with instructional design (ID) and like many of you I was not familiar with the subject.
In the summer of 2012, I attended a week long training session in supervision/leadership. The trainer, Dr. Richard Friend, did an outstanding job. I was so impressed with Dr. Friend that I approached him during a break to ask his secret for success as I was interested in learning to be a trainer myself.I expected that he would tell me how he mastered the subject matter through years of research, study, and experience.
Much to my surprise, he suggested that the key to success was to learn about education, and specifically adult education. He recommended graduate work as a means to both learn and to establish a credential in the subject.
When I returned home I started researching adult education and came across the field of instructional design. The more I read, the more interested I became.
During this research I also discovered the benefits of a graduate certificate. I enrolled in an online ID graduate certificate program and finished eight months later. I really enjoyed the program and I am incorporating ID into my current profession.
You may feel a bit intimidated at the idea of starting graduate school work in a new subject. I felt the same way, but I am happy to tell you that you don’t have to worry! Many of your classmates will likely be new to the subject too and your instructors know it. If I can do it, so can you!
Outside the world of ID, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife and two children as well as dabbling in photography when I get a chance.
Thanks for visiting!
